Richie took up triathlon in 2011 having previously focused on elite level hockey and offshore sailing. It quickly became his main passion, although it's fair to say he made most, it not all, of the common triathlon mistakes in the early years.
Slowly triathlon became a lifestyle and on moving to Canada in 2018 he qualified as an Ironman Certified Coach and a Triathlon Canada Community Coach. He qualified for the 2018, 2021 & 2022 Ironman 70.3 World Championships and the 2021 Ironman World Championships. Other racing highlights include 6th at the 2018 ETU European Middle Distance Championships and racing around the Daytona 500 racetrack at Challenge Daytona.
In 2021 Richie continued his education by qualifing as a personal trainer and nutrition coach to enhance his knowledge and work full time within the fitness industry. He worked at Innovative Fitness, Vancouver, to gain experience of personal training and now does private 1-on-1 sessions, in-person and virtual. Subsequent certifications include: Functional Movement Screen Level 1, TRX Training, Hyperice Self-Myofascial Release and Hyperice Movement Enhancement.
Having taken so much enjoyment from triathlon and fitness he is passionate about sharing his time and knowledge to help others reap the benefits on offer and achieve their goals.
